cardata is an independent, English-language pre purchase car inspection service in Budapest. Since 2019 we have sent an English-speaking car inspector to used cars across Budapest and its agglomeration, checked them on the spot before purchase, and handed buyers a clear report written in English - more than 1500+ inspections to date.
What we do
We carry out independent, on-site pre purchase inspections of used cars on behalf of the buyer. The inspector comes to the car wherever it is, examines the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, steering, electronics, body and structure, reads the diagnostics, checks the battery on hybrids and electric cars, and road tests the car where the seller allows. You receive an honest, system-by-system verdict before you commit any money. The service is designed above all for international and English-speaking buyers who want to buy a used car in Hungary with confidence.

Daniel is a qualified vehicle technician who has inspected used cars in Budapest for well over a decade. He leads cardata's on-site pre purchase inspections and works exclusively in English with international buyers, from first-time owners to expats importing a car they have never seen.
Every inspection and every buying guide on this site reflects that hands-on experience. Our aim is simple: to give a buyer the same informed judgement a knowledgeable friend in the trade would, delivered independently and in plain English.
Where we work
We cover Budapest and the surrounding agglomeration. Wherever a used car is parked - a dealer forecourt, a private driveway or a quiet side street - the inspector travels to it, so you never have to move a car you do not yet own.
The two ways to book
The inspection is identical either way; you choose only how you take part. With the Standard Inspection (35 999 Ft) you attend and receive a printed report on the spot. With the Digital Report Package (39 999 Ft) you need not attend at all, and receive the full report with photos and video by email.
